Chess Move 04:The Paradox of Genesis vs. the Big Bang

Jonathan Kirsch, Book Reviewer for the Los Angeles Times talks about the biblical King David and how his life differed from what traditional religious scholars have written. His new book, "King David...The Real Life of the Man who Ruled Israel" is the basis for this talk at UC Santa Barbara.

The Big Bang is a cosmological model of the universe which has the primary assertion that the universe has expanded into its current state from an initial state of infinite density and temperature. The term is also used in a narrower sense to describe the rapid expansion of spacetime that started at or close to an initial event in the history of our observed spacetime.

Genesis is the first book of the Bible, and the first of five books of the pentateuch. It recounts the Judeo-Christian history of the world from the creation to the descent of the children of Israel into Egypt, and contains some of the best-known stories of the Old Testament, including Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah's Ark, the Tower of Babel, and the biblical Patriarchs.

The Paradox: It is easy for the human mind to understand that the amount of time from the "present" to the "end of the future" is endless. However, the same human mind can not understand that the amount of time from "the beginning of time" to the "present" can also be endless.

This was a very interesting speech, Jonathan! Isn't it strange to think that Jesus would never have been David's son, when David hadn't met Bathsheba, and Juda hadn't taken Tamara. Jesus had many ancestors who committed adultry and yet he was sinnless.

BTW thanks for visiting my blog.
